Wintersports lovers looking for a unique skiing break should head to
Minneapolis-St Paul for the annual City of Lakes Loppet on February 3rd and 4th.
This event bills itself as "the urban cross-country ski race" and sees thousands of skiers take to a 35-kilometre route that begins at Theodore Wirth Park and finishes on the streets of uptown
Minneapolis-St Paul.
The race can be enjoyed by skiers of all ages and abilities, but there are numerous other ski events taking place over the weekend that are specifically for different age groups.
Outside of the skiing, various venues offer food, drink, swimming pools and saunas for spectators and competitors, while the city offers much in the way of bars, restaurants, shopping and other attractions for visitors to the region.
Minneapolis-St Paul is perhaps most famous for its historic bridges and a number of tours and exhibitions are available at certain times of the year for tourists to enjoy.
For more information, see the
City of Lakes Loppet website.
