Continental Airlines has introduced an online check-in facility for Spanish-speaking passengers.
This feature allows these customers to select their own seats and slash the amount of time spent waiting at airports, said
the US airline.
The move comes as part of the carrier's "Latinisation" scheme for Spanish-speaking passengers, which also allows customers to book their flights online in Spanish.
"As the Hispanic online population increases, more Spanish speakers are turning to the internet for information and services," commented Gabriela Contreras, senior analyst of online services and electronic marketing for
Continental Airlines.
"Now our Spanish-speaking passengers can book their flights, check in online, select seat assignments and reduce their time in line at the airport."
There are currently more than 40 million people of Hispanic background living in the US, according to the US Census Bureau.
Last month,
Continental Airlines ranked higher than its US competitors in Conde Nast Traveler's readers' awards for best international business class service.
