Holidaymakers with a penchant for history could try taking a break in
Edinburgh and visiting the Amazing Rare Things exhibition at the Queen's Gallery at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Running from March 2nd to September 16th 2007 and subtitled The Art of Natural History in the Age of Discovery, this exhibition collects together some of the biggest discoveries and depictions by four artists and a collector.
Works by Leonardo da Vinci, Cassiano dal Pozzo, Alexander Marshal, Maria Sibylla Merian and Mark Catesby feature in this exhibition, all carefully chosen by Royal Collection curators and Sir David Attenborough.
Visitors to
Edinburgh can chart the discoveries of plants and animals which have rocked the scientific world during one of the busiest periods for such research through a series of paintings, documents and artefacts.
This exhibition could be of interest to both young and old, offering an opportunity for an educational family holiday in
Edinburgh.
For more information, see the
Royal Collection website.
