Spanish airline
Iberia has announced a deal with
Japan Airlines that will allow it to sell e-tickets for flights with both carriers.
Iberia passengers can now use their e-tickets for destinations across the globe, apart from
Naples and
Pisa in
Italy, because they are served by Iberia Regional.
Currently, over 95 per cent of all tickets issued by the airline are in electronic format.
Passengers using e-tickets benefit from not being able to lose their ticket. They can also book flights online or via the telephone 24 hours a day.
The use of e-tickets has become increasingly more widespread over the past few years.
Earlier this week, Philippine Airlines announced that it has implemented new e-ticketing procedures.
The International Air Transport Association has stated that the goal for all airlines should be to introduce paperless ticketing by the end of next year.
