Holidaymakers heading to
Spain next spring should check out the popular Las Fallas festival in
Valencia.
Running between March 15th and 19th, this massive tribute to St Joseph, patron saint of the carpenters' guild, results in millions of people flocking to the city to glimpse the famous fireworks and bonfires that the event is focused on.
Effigies of celebrities and politicians are on the final night of the festival, while by day a host of parades and light shows take place throughout the week, to the delight of both young and old.
Arts events such as musical performances and street theatre take place regularly, while visitors to
Spain can also expect to sample a host of Valencia's finest food and drink.
With the festival's traditional aim being to burn away winter troubles in readiness for the spring, holidaymakers could indeed find themselves forgetting their daily worries as the streets of Valencia light up and burn.
Have a look at the
Las Fallas website for more information.
