British families would opt for a sunny getaway over a ski break during Christmas if given the choice, according to new research.
The survey by Takethefamily.com revealed that while 48 per cent of parents desired to fly abroad to warmer climes such as
the Caribbean,
South Africa and
Australia, less than a fifth wanted to go skiing.
A further 33 per cent said they would be happy enough to stay at home for a more traditional Christmas.
"Father Christmas always visits little ones wherever they are - even in the Caribbean," commented Lucy Ace, managing director of Takethefamily.com.
"Skiing with kids is a booming market. But families seem to prefer to leave their ski trips to the new year and particularly February half-term," she added.
Earlier this month, a survey by TripAdvisor revealed that a fifth of Americans plan to spend Christmas away from home, with
New York topping the list of popular festive destinations.
