Qantas has announced that it is to increase the number of non-stop flights between
San Francisco and
Sydney from next year.
Effective from March 26th, there will be five flights a week instead of three as demand for tickets on the route continues to boom.
The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
"Qantas now makes it even more convenient for our customers to travel between two beautiful sister cities, Sydney and San Francisco," commented John Martin, airport director at San Francisco International Airport.
"By increasing service to five days a week - and thus increasing seats per week by 66 per cent - Qantas provides passengers with greater flexibility when scheduling travel."
Last week,
Qantas announced the return of the airline's first ever jet aircraft to
Australia - 47 years after it first joined the fleet.
The Boeing 707-138B, known as the City of Canberra, will go on permanent public display in the near future.
