A new report has revealed the top destinations searched for by Britons looking for flights and accommodation online.
Continental Research's 2007 Holiday Online Planning Report indicated that for those looking to fly abroad,
Spain,
the US and
France are the most popular destinations.
Countries and cities in the far east and
the Caribbean were also shown to be favoured by UK web users.
"Internet users are more affluent and younger than the population as a whole," commented Colin Shaddick, director for Continental Research.
"They therefore have greater opportunities to travel."
The report also found that 17 million people plan to book at least one element of their main holiday in 2007 over the internet, with many travellers turning to random web searches for more information on their breaks.
Earlier this month, a study by research company PhoCusWright revealed that 54 per cent of all travel bookings made in the US are expected to be carried out online in the near future.
