Bargain-hunting Brits bag cheap summer breaks
More than half of Britons are already considering their summer holidays, spurred on by the current cold weather, according to new research.
About 54 per cent of consumers are considering purchasing flights and accommodation while prices are reasonably low, the survey by Yorkshire Bank revealed.
More than one-quarter of respondents are also booking cheap weekend city breaks in Europe to tide them over until the summer.
"With Brits working the longest hours in Europe, it's understandable to find they are treating themselves to more and more holidays in order to relax," commented Gary Lumby, head of retail for Yorkshire Bank.
Earlier this month, research from Halifax indicated that British travellers are becoming increasingly conscious of environmental concerns.
The bank found that one in ten holidaymakers would consider donating money towards methods of carbon offsetting, such as planting trees, in order to make their flights more eco-friendly.
