Travellers who pride themselves on being at the cutting edge of modern music might want to head to
Los Angeles and check out the Coachella festival between April 27th and 29th.
This popular event takes place a short drive or bus ride from
Los Angeles at the Empire Polo Field in Indio and boasts live performances from some of the biggest bands in the world across numerous stages and tents.
Headline acts for 2007 include Bjork, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a newly reformed Rage Against the Machine. Also set to rock California are the Arcade Fire, Interpol, the Arctic Monkeys and another reformed band, the Jesus and Mary Chain.
Recent sensations the Fratellis, Amy Winehouse, CSS and Tapes 'n Tapes will also offer their acclaimed musical services to the festival, while gypsy punk outfit Gogol Bordello are pretty much guaranteed to get even the most staid festival-goers dancing.
Brits travelling to
Los Angeles should make sure they take a hat and plenty of sun block with them. Even in April, Californian temperatures are high and it will feel like an Indian summer with the mercury predicted to hit 89 degrees F - equivalent to over 31 degrees C.
