Britons heading abroad for Valentine's Day this year have been advised to get travel insurance in case disaster hits their perfect break.
According to American Express Insurance Services, those planning to pop the question on a romantic holiday overseas might want to consider the consequences of losing the ring.
Joanne Field, marketing manager for the firm, said that holidaymakers should ensure the engagement ring is covered by the insurance policy.
"Only a few travel insurance policies offer more than £250 cover for valuables and should the ring be lost or stolen, romantic suitors could be financially unlucky in love," she said.
The company also released the findings of a survey to discover the top destinations for Valentine's Day breaks.
Venice,
Paris and
Rome led the poll's results, with more distant locations such as
New York,
Barbados and
Sydney also featuring in the top ten.
