Travellers intending to fly with
British Airways after February 13th will have to comply with new rules concerning their luggage.
The airline said that economy passengers will only be able have one bag in the hold, as opposed to being able to carry multiple cases that fall within weight limits.
Holidaymakers needing to carry extra luggage will be charged a fixed fee depending on the length of their flight.
Passengers flying long-haul will be expected to pay £120 per bag, with charges of £60 and £30 per bag for short-haul and domestic flights respectively - fees that double when a return flight is included.
"Our vision for London Heathrow Terminal 5 is to create the best possible airport experience before you fly," said
British Airways in a message on its website.
There will also be a new maximum luggage weight of 23 kilogrammes in force from this September.
First-class and Club World passengers will be able to take three bags in the hold for free, with two free bags for Club Europe and World Traveller Plus customers.
