British Airways has announced that it is to launch a new service between
London City Airport and
Glasgow International via its BA Connect subsidiary.
The airline said that the flights will run four times a day between
London and
Glasgow, with one service on Saturday and two on Sunday.
Launching on March 25th, the new service will allow passengers to travel between the two cities at a relatively low cost.
It is hoped that the link will help to boost Glasgow's booming commercial sector, with the Herald reporting Glasgow City Council leader councillor Steven Purcell as saying that the city will become "an even more attractive proposition for the financial and business services sector" once the flights begin.
Currently, BA Connect flies to destinations such as
Edinburgh,
Frankfurt and
Milan from London City Airport, as well as between Manchester and Glasgow.
London City Airport recently won an award naming it as the best airport in the UK from travel magazine Wanderlust.
