Today sees the introduction of new baggage rules for
British Airways passengers.
Some customers will have to pay to check in a second piece of luggage under the new restrictions.
Those travelling long haul will be obliged to supplement the cost of their return ticket with £240 if they wish to have an extra bag in the hold.
Meanwhile, from today
British Airways will charge an extra £120 for passengers with additional bags on European return flights and £60 for domestic travellers.
However, passengers will not be penalised under the rules until September 30th this year and travellers who cannot manage the one bag at 23 kg limit, such as those with disabilities, pregnant women or the elderly, will be exempt.
British Airways said is has introduced the new regulations today to "simplify existing policies".
