A Scottish airline is set to operate a daily flight between north and south Wales from the spring.
The Welsh assembly announced earlier this week that Highland Airways will provide two daily return flights during the week between Anglesey and
Cardiff.
Expected to boost business and tourism within Wales, the flights will cost in the region of £50 one way, with up to 36 passengers able to fly on any one service.
"Air services have an important role to play within the framework of an integrated transport system and as minister I am keen to exploit their full potential," commented enterprise minister Andrew Davies.
Last month,
Cardiff International Airport announced that it passed the two million passenger mark in 2006.
It also said that it is planning to launch routes to destinations including
Barcelona,
Nantes and
Kos over the course of 2007.
