Grab a flight to
New York and get a chance to join the race for a healthier planet this April.
Taking place on April 22nd, Earth Day will see special celebrations in the city's famous Central Park, located smack bang in the middle of Manhattan.
In addition to being in an oasis of calm surrounded by one of the highest and most recognisable skylines in the world, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the ways in which people can work to protect the environment.
Families are welcome at the day of events, which will feature demonstrations in various environmentally-friendly techniques, in addition to hands-on opportunities for people to get involved.
The day will also include "storytelling in the newly landscaped Children's Glade - a fabulous 'clearing in the forest' envisioned specifically as a new venue for family programmes", according to organisers.
Last year, performers at the event retold the environmental history of
New York with poetry, puppetry and music.
