Stansted issues security reminder

Stansted issues security reminder
Stansted Airport has issued a reminder to passengers about items that are allowable through security points.

The airport said it wants travellers to remember the rules regarding animals following a bizarre incident where a woman tried to get on a plane with two chameleons tucked away in her pockets.

Security officers are continuing to see passengers trying to board aircraft with cats, dogs and other creatures, including a tarantula, said Nick Cole, head of terminal for Stansted.

"While these are rare incidents, we do on a daily basis have passengers turning up at security with too many bags, or trying to take too much liquid through security, which slows the process up for everyone," he commented.

The chameleons were safely handed over to the RSPCA and are currently being looked after at an animal centre near Braintree.

Current regulations dictate that one piece of hand luggage is allowed per person, with only liquids of less than 100ml allowed onboard.
