Thinking of booking a
flight to Berlin this May? Make sure you're in the city for the colourful Carnival of Cultures between the 25th and 28th of the month.
A staggering 1.5 million people take to the streets of the Kreuzberg district for four days of parties, parades, music and food.
The carnival was first founded 12 years ago to celebrate the lives of the 450,000 non-German nationals living in
Berlin.
About 4,500 performers provide the bulk of the entertainment for spectators, including street theatre events, musical performances, DJ sets, dance and much more.
One of the highlights of the event is the huge parade made up of marchers from 70 countries, accompanied by spectacular floats and a steady flow of exotic food and drink.
Elsewhere, younger revellers are catered for through a special children's festival, while wandering acrobats and magicians provide delight for all visiting
Berlin during this time.
For more information, take a look at the
Carnival of Cultures website.
