The Home Office has announced the launch of a new "jumbo" version of its biometric ePassports.
British holidaymakers will be issued with the first 48-page passports by the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) this week.
The new version is being promoted as ideal for those who travel frequently to destinations across the globe, as it contains 16 extra pages for visa stamps.
It also features the biometric security of the original version of the ePassport, including a chip that electronically stores the holder's personal details and a scan of their photograph.
Acclaimed actor and traveller Michael Palin said: "Big journeys require big passports, so I'm delighted the IPS is offering adventurous travellers the jumbo biometric passport with more pages for your visas and, of course, visa-free travel to the USA."
The Home Office recently announced its intention to use biometric technology to control immigration to the UK.
