Thinking of
flying to San Francisco this summer? Make sure you get there in time for the San Francisco Pride celebration on June 23rd and 24th.
This massive event sees hundreds of thousands of people get together for a huge, colourful party to celebrate gay and lesbian life.
On the Saturday, a special celebration takes place at the Civic Center in
San Francisco, with a host of musical, theatre and dance performances put on to wow the crowds.
However, it is the Sunday parade that attracts the most attention. A cavalcade of motorcycles begins the proceedings, followed by a seemingly endless line of marchers and performers traversing the lined streets of the city.
After the parade, it's back to the Civic Center, where more performances are laid on - with more than one big name on the bill. Previous years have seen the likes of En Vogue, the B-52s, Jennifer Holiday, Jimmy Somerville, Chaka Khan and Joan Baez lend their talents to the event - indicating that this year is set to see even bigger stars visit
San Francisco.
