A partnership between
British Airways and the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has offset over 700 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
The two organisations have announced that they undertook strict measures to ensure that all carbon emissions produced from a ACTE conference last year were neutralised, which helped to fund research into biofuel energy in India.
They now want to offset emissions from future ACTE conferences in a similar manner by donating more money to renewable energy research projects.
"British Airways takes its environmental responsibilities extremely seriously. Carbon offsetting is an excellent way for individuals to demonstrate their own concern about the environment," commented Richard Tams, general manager for global corporate sales at British Airways.
Travellers looking to do their bit in the
fight against climate change can offset their own carbon emissions by donating to environmental projects through websites such as
Treeflights.com and
Climatecare.org.
