Figures from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have indicated that
bmi subsidiary bmi regional was the most punctual UK airline in 2006.
According to the statistics, bmi regional saw 91 per cent of its flights take off on time from airports around the UK last year, with average delays clocking in at five minutes.
It was also found to be the most punctual airline flying from
Heathrow Airport, well ahead of the likes of
British Airways and
Virgin Atlantic.
"We are extremely proud of our on-time record and the staff who work so hard to make it a reality, but there is no room for complacency. Everyone at bmi regional is determined to retain and strengthen our number one position in the future," commented Stewart Adams, bmi regional managing director.
Yesterday, bmi announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at business passengers, under which qualifying diamond club members will see a number of extra benefits and perks to reward frequent flying with the airline.
