Tickets for the first services to depart from the new Terminal 5 at
Heathrow Airport next year have now gone on sale.
British Airways has made about 75,000 tickets for the big day on March 27th 2008 available to buy.
The first flight to take off from the terminal will travel to
Paris, while the first service to land will arrive from
Hong Kong.
"British Airways customers buying these first tickets for Terminal 5 will have the chance to be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity. Terminal 5 is going to be a great advertisement for Britain – and this group of customers will be able to say 'I was there when it all began'," commented Robert Boyle, commercial director for British Airways.
The new terminal is expected to serve over 30 million passengers a year when it opens. Current facilities at Heathrow Airport are also to be redeveloped in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.
