Holidaymakers heading to
Berlin this summer should make sure they do not miss the spectacle that is Christopher Street Day.
Hundreds of thousands of people cram onto the streets of the city to celebrate gay and lesbian life through a massive parade on June 23rd, with live music and other entertainment on hand to jazz up the proceedings.
The rally passes through Kufurstendamm and by Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate, finishing up on Strasse des 17 Juni.
As well as the rally itself, a host of other events take place during what is known as Pride Week between June 16th and 24th.
Street fairs and parties are abundant during this time, along with more live performances and other themed events throughout
Berlin.
Christopher Street Day is also celebrated in other countries across
Europe, including
Switzerland and
Austria (where it is called the Rainbow Parade).
For more information, check out the
Christopher Street Day website.
