Holidaymakers heading for the
USA will be able to benefit from the current strength of the pound in relation to the weak dollar, according to one expert.
The pound is currently worth in the region of $2, which is the highest level it has been at in 15 years and means that Brits travelling over the Atlantic can pick up some real bargains.
Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that the currency movements are "really great news for travellers".
"The US is already renowned for being cheaper for restaurants and shopping, and the weak dollar literally means you can get more bangs for your buck while you're out there," she commented.
Earlier this month,
British Airways predicted that the USA would be a popular destination for Easter travellers looking to take advantage of the strong pound, citing
New York,
Los Angeles and
San Francisco among the top holiday locations for Britons.
