It might be winter in
Sydney when June rolls round but the city still knows how to put on a festival to draw in the crowds.
Holidaymakers heading to
Sydney during this time will be able to attend one of the world's longest running film events in the form of the Sydney Film Festival.
Running from June 8th to 24th, the event attracts around 125,000 every year, all expecting to see at least one of the 200 films screened at venues across the city.
Movies from every genre and many different countries are shown at the festival, with films from up and coming Australian directors jostling for attention alongside acclaimed dramas, comedies, thrillers and documentaries from south-east Asia, the Middle East, Europe and beyond.
The festival can be a star-studded affair - previous patrons have included the likes of Cate Blanchett, Sam Neill, Gillian Armstrong, Jane Campion, Nicole Kidman and Baz Luhrmann, among many others.
For those visiting
Australia at other times of the year, the festival has an offshoot - the Travelling Film Festival - which drops in at locations across the country all year-round.
Take a look at the
Sydney Film Festival website for more information.
