More Britons are flocking to
South Africa for their holidays than ever before, according to new statistics.
Figures released by South African Tourism reveal that over 488,000 UK holidaymakers travelled to the country last year, up 3.9 per cent compared with 2005, reports TravelMole.
In addition, eight per cent more Britons visited
South Africa in December 2006 than in December 2005, with South African Tourism UK country manager Lebo Mokhesi stating that numbers are up due to an increased understanding of South Africa and its attractions.
"We're seeing a whole range of holidaymakers from luxury seekers and adrenalin junkies to families and culture vultures all wanting to experience their very own South Africa," she commented.
South Africa is perhaps best known to tourists for the hustle and bustle of cities such as
Cape Town and
Johannesburg, but it also offers a variety of holiday experiences including spectacular views from Table Mountain, the 600-kilometre Garden Route and plenty of luxurious beaches to relax on.
