Travellers wanting a day at the races with a difference might want to visit Queensland in
Australia and witness the unusual sight of the Boulia Camel Races this summer.
Taking place between July 20th and 22nd at the Boulia Rodeo Grounds in
Boulia, the internationally famous races attract over 3,000 spectators every year as camel jockeys battle it out to get ahead of the pack.
A number of heats take place throughout the Saturday, climaxing in the finals on Sunday morning for the real race for the Boulia Camel Cup.
Visitors to
Australia will be able to enjoy a traditional night out down under during the evenings, with live entertainment, food, dancing and colourful fireworks brightening up the proceedings.
Side events will take place throughout, including the rather strange - and dangerous - game of wild camel tagging, as well as having the chance to place bets on possible winners.
Holidaymakers looking to make a real event of the races should take advantage of the 70-acre campground nearby, which offers all amenities and running water.

Boulia Shire Council website.
