Britons are increasingly taking the time and effort to save up for their dream holiday, according to one expert.
A recent change in holidaymaker expectations, as well as a desire to see more of the world, has led to breaks abroad becoming a way of life rather than just a rare treat, says Andrew Swaffield, managing director of the Airmiles loyalty points scheme.
He said that the notion of journeying overseas is still a "very exciting" prospect for Britons, motivating them to look to far-flung destinations.
"A few years ago, a trip to Paris may have been very rare, whereas now it is not. So we are seeing people looking to save up for hotels, UK breaks, special days out and long-haul flights and holidays," he commented.
Mr Swaffield added that an increasing number of consumers are taking to saving up loyalty points to spend on such holidays and flights.
Sean Tipton, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents, recently said that more Britons than ever before are choosing to travel to destinations in the
USA, with one recent motivator being the strength of the pound against the dollar.
