New figures have indicated that the popularity of overseas breaks is continuing to rise.
According to a report from the Office for National Statistics, 68.4 million trips abroad were made during the 12 months to February, an increase of 2.5 per cent over the previous year's figure of 66.8 million.
Destinations in
Europe were found to receive 1.9 per cent more visits from British holidaymakers during this period, with 9.1 per cent more visits made to worldwide locations outside of Europe and the
USA.
The figures also show that 12.5 million overseas trips were made between December and February alone, up 2.1 per cent on the corresponding number for the previous year.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that record numbers of Britons are
flying to South Africa, with more than 488,000 UK holidaymakers heading to the country last year, according to figures from the South African Tourism organisation.
