Officials at
Gatwick Airport are preparing for a busy bank holiday weekend as hundreds of thousands of Britons are set to jet off abroad.
According to the airport more than 350,000 travellers will pass through its gates between Friday and Monday, with over 97,000 holidaymakers expected to fly on Friday alone.
The most popular destinations for the weekend include
Dublin and
Spain - with
Malaga in particular set to be a hit - in terms of short-haul flights and
Orlando in
Florida for
long-haul travel.
Passengers are advised to check that they comply with the hand luggage requirements for carrying liquids. In addition, they should be aware that some services have transferred to new terminals, with
Virgin Nigeria routes to
Lagos now operating from the north terminal.
Last week, it was announced that a dispute which would have led to a refueller strike resulting in flight disruption at Gatwick over the bank holiday period had been successfully resolved.
