Officials at
Manchester Airport have announced that it will be smoke-free from next week, ahead of the nationwide smoking ban that will be in place from July 1st.
From May 14th, passengers will have to use designated smoking areas outside Terminal 1 Arrivals, Terminal 2 Arrivals and Departures, and the Terminal 3 ground level doors if they want to smoke.
There will also be designated smoking areas in each terminal past the security checkpoints until midnight on June 30th, after which date the entire hub will be smoke-free.
The announcement comes shortly after authorities at the airport announced that it has implemented equipment and working method changes to better assist its disabled passengers in conjunction with services group OCS.
EU legislation which shifts responsibility for the safe passage of disabled customers onto individual airports is set to come into force in one year's time.
