A tropical celebration in Antigua
Want a truly spectacular summer holiday? Try catching a flight to Antigua for the annual Antigua Carnival and get just that.
Running from July 21st to August 7th, this popular event celebrates its golden jubilee in 2007 with a host of parades, shows and activities across Antigua.
Visitors to the Caribbean island can witness the Children's Carnival, calypso contests, the Queen of Carnival competition and the Party Monarch contest.
A wide array of markets, performances and parties will take place throughout the duration of the carnival, appealing to both those who want to throw themselves into the midst of the celebrations and those who are content to sit back and watch the proceedings.
The main highlight of the carnival occurs on its very last day, when the Parade of Troupes and Groups winds its way through Antigua in an explosion of colour and music.
