Travellers heading to
New York this summer should make sure they check out one of the city's best-loved free festivals.
The SummerStage event takes place in Central Park between June and August, offering up a host of performances by artists, bands, dancers and DJs across a range of genres and fields.
Joss Stone, Common and Ryan Stone will kick off the proceedings this year on June 8th with a show - for which you'll have to buy tickets - at the Bowery, with the rest of the festival taking place in Central Park free of charge.
Last year's event featured the likes of Gnarls Barkley, Talvin Singh, The New Pornographers, Calexico, The Frames and many more besides, with 2007's line-up set to be even better when it is announced closer to the festival.
Benefit events will also take place throughout the duration of SummerStage, with other parties, shows and performances also sure to spring up around
New York during this period.
For more information, check out the
SummerStage website.
