In preparation of new legislation governing disability support in airports set to come into effect next year,
BAA Stansted is currently looking for a partner to help improve its own services.
Robbie Barrigan, spokesperson for the airport, said that the company was currently involved in the tendering process and would make its decision in November to ensure it complies with the new regulations.
"The main change with this new legislation was in how disabled passengers and passengers with special needs were handled when they arrived at the airport to when they got on the plane," he remarked.
According to Mr Barrigan, the legislation will help to further improve "an already good" service provided by the airport.
Stansted claims to be the UK's third-busiest airport, offering services to 160 destinations in 34 countries.
It estimates that 23.8 million passengers use the airport each year, making it the 49th-busiest airport in the world.
