Etihad Airways has announced the launch of a new interactive television channel as part of an upgrade of its inflight entertainment system.
The Airshow channel will be rolled out in June and will offer information such as flight paths and destination and flight data on-demand and in high definition.
Another upgrade next year will also see passengers able to take advantage of live network news feeds, information on arrivals and connections, airport maps and holiday destination guides.
"The Airshow TV channel sets new standards of in-flight entertainment because not only does it enable each passenger to follow the progress and flight path of the aircraft, they can also gain a wealth of information about their destination which will help and entertain," commented Peter Baumgartner, executive vice president of marketing for
Etihad Airways.
Earlier this month,
American Airlines announced that it is offering new inflight media players capable of playing on-demand video and audio to certain premium class cabins across its fleet.
