Jazz enthusiasts will find much to enjoy at this year's Jazz in August festival, held in
Lisbon, Portugal.
Held between the 3rd and 11th, the festival brings together a number of famous European and American musicians, including soloists and large ensembles.
The festival sees performances across several stages at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, as well as films and lectures discussing the history of the popular musical genre.
"Jazz is always in tune with civilisation," the organisers say.
"Today this means fragmented, fractal, kaleidoscopic and, above all, free from preconceptions."
While in
Lisbon, visitors can enjoy the "hustle and bustle" of the downtown area where the city's oldest shops are located.
Described as the "heart of the city", the Baixa area boasts jewellers and clothing stores, as well as traditional crafts and tradesmen, whose businesses date back hundreds of years.

Jazz in August website.
