Virgin Atlantic has announced that it has secured rights to increase the number of flights to Jamaica, following the decision taken by Air Jamaica to no longer offer flights from Heathrow.
It is expected that Virgin will begin operating flights to Kingston as part of a code-sharing agreement with the Jamaican carrier from October, the Telegraph reports.
Steve Ridgway, chief executive at Virgin Atlantic, said: "We are confident of growing the market substantially."
According to the newspaper, Virgin has been running flights to Montego Bay since July last year.
Virgin Atlantic recently announced that it was launching a second daily service to Washington Dulles International Airport during the summer months.
The new service is intended to provide greater choice and flexibility to its passengers to the USA.
Since it launched flights to the city in June 1996, the airline has carried approximately two million passengers.
