Crossing the Finnish line

Crossing the Finnish line
Practically the national sport, Finland plays host to the ninth round of the FIA World Rally Championship in August, in an event that is sure to get the adrenalin pumping.

Between August 2nd and 5th, the world's finest drivers compete around the twists and turns of the circuit in the Neste Oil Rally at Jyvaskyla, offering spectators the chance to get close to the action.

Now in its 57th year, the event this summer will see brand new stages that include lakes, gravel roads and spectacular high-speed jumps.

"As the biggest annual spectator event in the Nordic countries, Neste Oil Rally Finland offers something for every visitor," the organisers say.

Those wishing to take a breather from the intense competition can enjoy a range of activities on the Super Special Stage, while real motor enthusiasts can sample the atmosphere of the Paviljonki Rally HQ service areas.

While in Finland, visitors can take in a variety of outdoor pursuits, from cycling to canoeing and horse riding to hiking.
