Drawing its inspiration from the powerful and majestic humpback whales that inhabit the waters around Hervey Bay in
Australia, the annual whale festival promises a wide range of attractions and activities for visitors.
The popular Queensland destination celebrates the arrival of the mammals with a diverse and colourful programme of events between August 10th and 12th.
Starting with the Whale Festival Launch, which includes dinner and dancing, the event boasts entertainment, market stalls, rides and food for the whole family.
Each year also sees a spectacular firework display, with choirs and dancers performing during Saturday evening's Return to the Sea finale.
The weekend comes to a close with festival-goers celebrating the arrival of whales to the area with food and wine stalls lining the Bay area.
While in Queensland, wildlife enthusiasts can take a trip to
Brisbane where they can visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and experience the region's unique animals.
