New summer route launches this year will result in
Manchester Airport serving more destinations than any other UK airport, it has been announced.
The airport will expand its offerings to send passengers to about 24 new cities and resorts over the coming months, meaning that it will serve 225 locations in total.
While Manchester Airport's London counterparts are able to handle more passengers and flights,
Heathrow currently flies to 180 destinations, with
Gatwick serving about 200, according to the Manchester Evening News.
New routes due to be launched in the summer include a new
Rotterdam service from
VLM and
flights to Basel from
Swiss International Airlines.
"We're continuing to expand the destinations on offer and are giving passengers more choice than ever," commented Aidan Mooney at Manchester Airport.
Earlier this month, the airport announced that it is to spend over £35 million revamping Terminal 1 in order to offer better shopping facilities.
