Virgin brings Middle Earth to flights

Virgin Atlantic has announced a special promotion to mark the new Lord of the Rings stage show in London this month.

All economy class passengers flying with the airline to the UK will receive Lord of the Rings-themed amenity kits, which will only be available for a limited period.

The kits include a travel wallet with a Lord of the Rings bag tag, customised Precious Sleep eyeshades, Gandalf socks, a limited edition gold pen and a redesigned toothbrush and toothpaste set.

Flights to Gatwick and Manchester will have these kits available from this week, while mid-June will see their introduction on flights into Heathrow.

"It's been great fun working with everyone at The Lord of the Rings to create what I'm sure will be a winner with passengers and no doubt become collector's items for the future," commented Lysette Gauna, head of brand for Virgin Atlantic.

The Lord of the Rings show - which has previously been a success in Toronto - opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on June 19th.
