Holidaymakers heading to
San Francisco will now be able to take advantage of a new power nap service at the city's airport.
The San Francisco Airport Commission has approved the installation of napping stations by sleep solutions provider POWRNAPS at the hub, allowing weary passengers to take a 20-minute snooze in peace while waiting for a flight.
These single sleep stations allow travellers to recline in a Nasa-designed chair and drift off to sleep while listening to "soothing recorded sounds" to help them to relax.
POWRNAPS claims that the stations will give passengers the benefit of a three-hour sleep in a 20-minute session.
"The sleep session benefits are many; it lowers heart rate and blood pressure, reduces anxiety and stress, and improves energy and alertness," says the company.
Airlines that fly from the UK to
San Francisco include
United Airlines,
KLM and
Virgin Atlantic.
