Virgin Atlantic launched its new service between
Glasgow and
Orlando,
Florida over the weekend, marking the occasion with live music and free gifts for passengers.
The new flights have been launched in conjunction with Virgin Holidays and will be operated every Saturday over the course of the summer to coincide with the Scottish school summer holiday period.
They will begin again in October to cater for demand during the Scottish half-term break, with further flights set to take place during April, June, July and October of next year.
Gordon Dewar, managing director of Glasgow International Airport, commented: "The new service has already proved a phenomenal success and next year's expanded programme is already selling well."
Earlier this month, Virgin Atlantic announced that it is to launch new flights between
Heathrow Airport and
Mauritius on October 28th, which will run two times a week on Fridays and Sundays, returning on Saturdays and Mondays.
