It might be summer but those considering destinations for their winter holiday could do well to opt for a ski break in
Europe.
According to one expert, family holidays on the slopes of
France and
Austria are currently being demanded by a rising number of travellers, with locations such as Lapland and
Slovenia also proving popular.
These destinations are proving attractive not just for their icy conditions, but also for the sheer breadth of activities and attractions they offer to both adults and children, said a spokesperson for First Choice.
"France is still very popular with guests who are very keen skiers and boarders, Austria has great skiing combined with traditional hotels and Lapland is a strong contender now as it offers a wide variety of activities away from the slopes," he commented.
However, holidaymakers thinking about going on a ski holiday might have to make sure they go sooner rather than later - a report commissioned by Halifax earlier this year found that
climate change could reduce snow levels in the Alps by a third before 2030.
