The pound passed the $2 mark yesterday, about two months after it hit the milestone for the first time in a decade.
A $2 pound brings good news for tourists looking to hop on a
flight to the USA, as this means that they will be able to buy higher value items at a relatively low cost.
While the pound dipped again later in the day, its high value still represents a significant opportunity for bargain hunters wanting to maximise their funds.
"Those who are planning to take summer holidays in the USA will be pleased to find that their pound will buy more," commented Barry Naisbitt, chief economist for Abbey.
Some of the most popular American destinations for UK travellers include
New York,
Florida and
Las Vegas, according to Sean Tipton, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents.
He also claimed that it is "very cheap" to fly over the Atlantic at present, while activities such as dining and going out are also reasonably priced in the USA.
