Aircraft at
Heathrow Airport have begun landing and taking off again following a temporary pause in operations after a gas leak was found near the hub.
The leak was identified on a construction site near the airport earlier this afternoon. It was caused by a digger rupturing a pipe, the BBC reports.
While all of the halted flights are now operating as normal, airport operator BAA has said that traffic around the hub may be adversely affected by road closures in the Hatton Cross area.
A spokesman said: "For safety reasons, an exclusion zone has been set up by the emergency services and roads around the area have been closed."
The BAA website states that the Heathrow Express is running as normal, but while the Piccadilly Line is in operation, no stops will be made at Hatton Cross until further notice.
As a result, passengers should allow extra time for journeys to and from the airport.
