A growing number of over-50s are travelling further afield as a result of the improving quality of flights, it has been claimed.
Long-haul destinations such as
New Zealand,
South Africa and
China are becoming more popular because of a perceived increase in flight standards and service, said Saga Group.
A spokesperson stated that a recent survey conducted by the firm found that one-third of over-50s are more concerned about holiday quality now than they have been in the past.
"I think having the option to fly in a better class or pick a luxury resort in a far-flung destination has encouraged more people to travel long-haul," she commented.
Other recent research has also indicated that a number of sectors of society are becoming more willing to fly to distant locations.
A study by Accommodationforstudents.com conducted last month revealed that more than half of all students holiday in locations outside of
Europe, with the Americas cited as the most popular destination.
