New daily flights between
Stansted Airport and
New York are set to be launched by
American Airlines later this year, it has been announced.
The non-stop scheduled flights will begin on October 29th and will fly to John F Kennedy Airport, the airline said, with a second service between the two points to start in March 2008.
It will also take advantage of the open skies pact to introduce flights from
Heathrow Airport to
Dallas Fort Worth and
Raleigh-Durham from March next year. Another Dallas Fort Worth service will also be operated at
Gatwick Airport from this time.
American Airlines chairman and chief executive Gerard Arpey said the new flights represent "significant schedule developments" for the carrier.
"This will be the first time London passengers using our Dallas Fort Worth or Raleigh-Durham gateways will be able to fly directly to Heathrow," he added.
Last month, the airline announced that it will offer triple AAdvantage miles to those making a first or
business class round trip between JFK Airport and Heathrow Airport before August 31st.
