Irish airline
Aer Lingus has announced plans to launch new services between
Gatwick Airport and
Dublin.
Beginning in October this year, the flights will take place four times a day and add to the carrier's current services between
Heathrow Airport and Dublin.
The new flights will include the first morning return service from
Dublin to Gatwick to be operated by any airline, according to Aer Lingus. It also claimed that the flights will depart at times convenient for both leisure and business passengers.
"The introduction of a new London gateway strengthens our existing network and reflects the growing demand from customers for low fares combined with good service," commented Stephen Kavanagh, planning director for
Aer Lingus.
Last month, the airline announced that it is to double its
long-haul fleet, a decision partly driven by its intention to launch transatlantic flights following the signing of the open skies pact between the EU and the
USA.
